Pooja Wadhwa Becomes Abohar's First Woman Mayor

In a city where no woman had ever held the highest civic office, Pooja Wadhwa just changed history.

The BJP councillor won Abohar's mayoral race on Tuesday with 29 votes, defeating the Aam Aadmi Party in the 50-member Municipal Corporation. She received support from 28 BJP councillors and one vote from local MLA Sandeep Jakhar.
