Port Arthur Awards $9K Scholarships to 10 Graduating Seniors

Port Arthur is investing in its hometown talent by offering 10 scholarships to graduating seniors, each worth up to $9,000 over two years. The Port Arthur Economic Development Corporation wants local students to build careers without leaving their community.

The scholarship program targets students pursuing associate degrees in high-demand fields at Lamar State College Port Arthur. Applications are open now through March 18 for any Class of 2026 graduate living in Port Arthur, including homeschooled students.

Students can choose from 13 different career paths, from renewable energy and nursing to emergency medical services and surgical technology. Other eligible programs include HVAC, instrumentation technology, medical coding, physical therapy assistance, and process technology.

The requirements are straightforward: students need a 2.5 GPA, acceptance to Lamar State College Port Arthur, and enrollment in one of the eligible programs. They'll submit their application online with their transcript, test scores, and a personal essay.
