Pueblo Firefighters Save 7 Puppies From House Fire

Seven tiny puppies are alive today because a team of Pueblo firefighters refused to give up on them.

On August 2nd, the Pueblo Fire Department responded to a house fire on the city's north side around 7:30 p.m. When they arrived, they learned that two adult dogs, several puppies, and even a pet rat were trapped inside the burning home.

The firefighters immediately launched what they called an "aggressive primary search" while simultaneously battling the blaze. Their mission was clear: find those animals and get them out safely.

After extinguishing the fire, the team pulled seven puppies and one caged rat from the smoke-filled house. No humans were inside or injured during the incident.

The real heroism showed in what happened next. Firefighters and EMTs immediately began administering CPR to the tiny puppies suffering from smoke inhalation. They provided supplemental oxygen, wrapped the scared pups in blankets, and carefully transported them in a small plastic tub lined with soft towels.

Photos shared by the department show first responders cradling the puppies, their faces filled with relief and joy. The surviving pups were eventually placed in the care of the Pikes Peak Humane Society for continued recovery and future adoption.
