Puerto Rico Gets Clean Energy Boost for Power Security

Puerto Rico is getting a major upgrade to its energy infrastructure that could help solve one of the island's biggest challenges: reliable power.

Clean Energy Fuels Corp., North America's largest clean fuel provider, has signed two groundbreaking contracts to build liquefied natural gas fueling stations on the island. The projects will power a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility and a luxury resort with reliable, cleaner-burning energy.

For Puerto Rico, this is more than just business news. The island has struggled with energy reliability for years, particularly after Hurricane Maria devastated the grid in 2017.
