Punjab: 882 Government Students Qualify NEET This Year

In just four years, Punjab has turned 82 medical school dreams into 882 success stories.

Government school students across the state qualified for NEET medical entrance exams at nearly 11 times the rate they did in 2022. The transformation came through sustained investments in free coaching programs, career counseling, and mentorship that leveled the playing field for students who couldn't afford expensive private tutoring.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann celebrated the achievement while honoring qualifying students in Mohali's Zirakpur on Sunday. The results prove that talent exists everywhere, but opportunity doesn't always reach it.

The state has worked to build a merit-based system where students succeed based on their abilities rather than their family's bank account. Free coaching and support programs gave government school students the same tools their private school peers had access to all along.

The education push comes alongside efforts to protect exam integrity. When officials discovered a cheating ring targeting a pharmacy recruitment exam in July, authorities moved quickly to make arrests and shut down the operation.

Punjab's success offers a blueprint for other states struggling with educational inequality. When governments invest in comprehensive support systems rather than just buildings and textbooks, students from all backgrounds can compete nationally.

The 800-student increase represents 800 families who now see medical careers as achievable goals. Each qualifying student becomes proof to younger siblings, neighbors, and classmates that the path exists.
