Punjabi Singer Earns Rs 6,000 Daily Selling Farm Saag

Feel Good

Punjabi artist Gurmukh Singh is breaking stereotypes by turning his family farm's winter harvest into a thriving roadside food venture. By selling freshly cooked traditional saag, he now brings in up to Rs 6,000 in daily profit while continuing his music career.

Gurmukh Singh had every reason to stay in the recording studio, but he found his greatest rhythm by returning to the soil. The 33-year-old Punjabi artist, known onstage as Garry Benipal, now spends his afternoons serving freshly cooked saag at a bustling crossroad in Sunam.

What started as a modest experiment with 15 packets has blossomed into a beloved daily venture. Gurmukh grew up tending crops on his family's three-acre plot in Ghasiwala village in Punjab. When raw vegetable sales brought low returns, his father suggested selling directly to consumers to secure a fairer price for their labor.

Standing behind a roadside stall was not easy at first for an artist known for his music. Yet Gurmukh quickly let go of hesitation, realizing that honest, hard work is always worthy of pride.

He pivoted to offering ready-to-eat traditional saag cooked with mustard oil, fresh garlic, and warming winter spices. The very first batch vanished within ten minutes, encouraging his whole family to team up for the daily preparation.

Today, Gurmukh packs and sells around 125 containers every afternoon, earning a daily profit of up to Rs 6,000. Customers now travel from nearby cities to grab a portion, prompting him to expand his menu with hearty lentils.

Calling himself a proud farmer-artist, he continues to record songs for films while documenting his agricultural journey on social media. His videos are striking a chord with young people across Punjab who want to build sustainable local businesses of their own.

Why This Inspires

Gurmukh shows us that true fulfillment begins when we trade self-doubt for purpose. By taking pride in agriculture, he proves that creating art and honoring the soil can exist in beautiful harmony.

By celebrating both the microphone and the harvest, this creative spirit reminds us that honest work is always something to sing about.
