Quebec Teen Alexis Rouleau Wins Team Canada Camp for 2nd Year

A Montreal-area teenager is showing the golf world that patience and mental strength can matter just as much as physical talent.

Alexis Rouleau just completed a season most junior golfers only dream about. The 15-year-old won his second straight Team Canada Selection Camp title after a summer that included provincial championships, international podium finishes, and a standout performance at one of golf's most famous venues.

For Rouleau, the biggest wins haven't all come from his scorecard. His first season with Team Canada's NextGen program taught him something more valuable than any trophy.

"The biggest area I've grown is mentally," Rouleau said. "The mental coaching has been very helpful, and my decision-making has improved a lot."

That growth showed up early when he rallied from outside the top 20 after the first round to win the NextGen Ontario Championship. He followed that with a dominant 15-under-par performance at the Golf Québec Provincial Junior Championship.

The international stage came next. Representing Canada at the Toyota Junior World Cup in Japan, Rouleau finished in the top five against competitors from around the world. Back home at the Canadian Junior Boys Championship in Regina, he posted an incredible comeback, finishing his final 54 holes 14 under par after opening with a 75.

His most impressive result came at TPC Sawgrass, home of THE PLAYERS Championship. Competing at the Junior PLAYERS Championship presented by Rolex against some of the world's best young golfers, the Class of 2029 standout shot rounds of 72-70-70 to finish tied for third at four-under-par.

Rouleau's approach offers a refreshing reminder that slowing down can help you move forward faster. While many young athletes get caught up in mechanics and technique, he's embraced simplicity thanks to Team Canada head coach Matt Wilson.

"I really like the way Matt keeps things simple," Rouleau explained. "If you put too many things in my head, it starts to get complicated."

That philosophy of taking one shot at a time and letting results follow has turned a promising young player into one of Canada's rising stars. His success also highlights how Quebec's junior development programs are creating clear pathways for young athletes to reach national and international levels.

With several more events still on his schedule, Rouleau's breakthrough season isn't quite finished, but his message to young competitors is already clear: trust the process, stay patient, and keep it simple.
