Racing Team Draws Giant Car Across London, Sets Record

Picture 29 runners weaving through London streets for hours, each carrying a GPS tracker, working together to draw a giant race car across the entire city. That's exactly what Jaguar TCS Racing just did, setting a Guinness World Record in the process.

The team completed a continuous 100km route that traced the outline of their Jaguar I-TYPE 7 race car across London. Each runner carried a GPS device, passing it like a relay baton to the next participant, with the route starting and finishing at technology partner TCS's London headquarters.

The creative achievement wasn't just for fun. It celebrates Jaguar TCS Racing's incredible performance during Formula E's GEN3 era, which wraps up with races in London on August 15 and 16.

The numbers tell an impressive story. Across four seasons, the team won 18 races, more than any other competitor. They also secured 23 additional podium finishes and scored 1,144 points during the era.

The Ripple Effect

The record attempt brought together members from both Jaguar TCS Racing and their technology partner TCS, demonstrating how teamwork extends beyond the racetrack. To meet Guinness World Records requirements, they needed recognizable artwork, continuous route mapping, timestamped GPS files, and complete participant records.

TCS Chief Marketing Officer Abhinav Kumar highlighted the connection between the two sports. "Running marathons and motorsport racing requires similar qualities: endurance, intelligence, and executing a winning race strategy," he explained.

The team didn't stop at one record. They also set a second Guinness World Record with 109 participants in a racing simulator video game relay at their technical headquarters.

Team Principal Ian James called the achievements "a fitting way to mark" the end of the GEN3 era. The timing couldn't be better, as Jaguar heads into the London races with a 14-point lead in the Teams' World Championship, chasing their second title in three seasons.

Driver Mitch Evans sits just two points behind the championship leader, making these home races particularly meaningful. The London finale will also mark Evans' final races with Jaguar after 10 years with the team.
