Rajasthan University Opens First Distance Learning Hub

Students juggling jobs, families, or living far from campus just got a major win in Rajasthan, India.

Central University of Rajasthan opened its first learner support center at Kanoria P.G. Women's College in Jaipur this week. The center will offer open and distance learning programs and online courses, giving students flexibility to learn on their own schedules.

The university, based in Ajmer district, recently earned recognition as one of India's top 100 institutions in the Nature Index 2026 Research Leaders ranking. It claimed the 79th spot nationally, proving its academic programs meet high standards.

Vice-Chancellor Anand Bhalerao signed the partnership agreement with the women's college, officially launching the new center. "Through open and distance learning programs and a strong network of learner support centers, our vision is to make higher education accessible to every learner, anywhere," he said.

The timing couldn't be better for working professionals and students who need flexible options. The programs allow learners to pursue distance courses while simultaneously enrolled in regular academic programs or holding down full-time jobs.

A three-member committee visited Kanoria College to review its infrastructure and academic resources before approving it as the first center. The university plans to expand this network, bringing quality higher education to more communities across the region.

Opening this center means more than just convenience. It breaks down barriers that have kept talented students from pursuing degrees because of location, work schedules, or family responsibilities.

Women in particular stand to benefit from having this center located at a women's college. They can access university-level education in a supportive environment without relocating or commuting long distances.

The model creates a blueprint for expanding educational access throughout India. As Central University of Rajasthan builds more support centers, thousands of students who once saw higher education as out of reach will have new pathways forward.
