Range Rover's Electric GT SUV Arrives Summer 2027

Range Rover is reimagining what a luxury SUV can be with its upcoming GT, an all-electric vehicle that promises to blend elegance with athleticism when it arrives in summer 2027.

The 2028 Range Rover GT will be the most carlike model the British automaker has ever produced. Built on Jaguar Land Rover's brand-new Electrical Modular Architecture, it represents the company's bold step into electric innovation with a platform designed for both EV and hybrid powertrains.

The GT fills the gap left by the recently discontinued Discovery Sport, but this isn't a simple replacement. Range Rover is positioning it as the fifth member of its premium family, slotting between the Velar and Range Rover Sport despite its smaller size, thanks to its advanced electric technology and expected $70,000 starting price.

Early prototypes are already testing worldwide, and the company has released interior photos showcasing a minimalist, upscale cabin with Range Rover's refreshed logo. The exterior design stays true to the brand's clean, elegant styling but adds a lower roofline and sportier proportions that suggest this lifted grand tourer means business.

The GT launches as an all-electric model first, with a hybrid version following later. Multiple configurations are expected, likely including dual-motor setups and at least two battery size options to suit different drivers.

The platform supports an 800-volt electrical architecture, which means faster charging times when you need to top up. Production will happen at JLR's Halewood plant in England, bringing advanced manufacturing back to the company's home turf.

Few direct competitors exist in this space yet. The Genesis GV60 Magma and Tesla Model Y Performance might overlap, but the GT carves out its own niche as a genuinely premium electric SUV with British pedigree and Range Rover's reputation for refined luxury.
