Regina Hockey Team Launches Hero Recognition Program

A Saskatchewan hockey team wants to put community helpers in the spotlight where they belong.

The Regina Pats have partnered with Leavitt Machinery to launch "Lift of the Month," a program recognizing Regina residents who volunteer, lead, and serve their neighbors. From October through March, one Community Hero will be honored each month based on public nominations.

Anyone can nominate someone making a difference. Maybe it's the neighbor who shovels everyone's sidewalk, the volunteer who runs the food bank, or the mentor changing kids' lives behind the scenes. All nominations happen through an online form where people share their hero's story.

Each monthly winner receives two tickets to a Regina Pats home game, a swag bag, and recognition from the team. But the celebration doesn't stop there.

The Ripple Effect

At season's end, all six monthly winners enter a community vote for "Lift of the Year." The grand prize winner gets tickets to the first two playoff games, an exclusive arena tour, signed hockey gear, and another swag bag.

The program taps into something powerful: when we celebrate kindness publicly, we inspire more of it. Leavitt Machinery, which operates across North America with over 30 locations, built its business on community partnerships and service. This initiative puts that mission into action by showing volunteers their work matters.

Regina gets to decide who deserves the spotlight. The nomination process is simple and designed to capture the full range of community contributions, whether someone's impact is loud and public or quiet and consistent.

The program runs through hockey season, creating six opportunities to honor good people doing good work.
