ReNew Cuts Emissions 25.6%, Powers 21 Million Indian Homes

One of India's largest clean energy companies just proved that fighting climate change can be wildly profitable while making a massive difference for millions of families.

ReNew Energy Global announced it cut its carbon emissions by 25.6% compared to its 2021-22 baseline, beating its own ambitious target of 23.5%. At the same time, the company generated 24.7 billion units of clean electricity during the 2025-26 fiscal year, enough to power roughly 21.2 million households across India.

The Gurugram-based company didn't just help the planet. It helped itself too, with total income jumping 38% to 150.6 billion Indian rupees and profits more than doubling to 10.4 billion rupees.

ReNew's success story gets even better when you look at the details. The company now gets 84% of its electricity from renewable sources and has maintained carbon neutrality for six straight years. Its operations span 12.8 gigawatts of solar, wind, hydro, and battery storage capacity.

During the past year, ReNew contributed about 8% of India's entire clean energy generation. By avoiding 20.8 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, the company is making a real dent in one of the world's most important climate battles.

The Ripple Effect

ReNew's impact extends far beyond power generation into the communities it serves. The company reached 1.95 million lives through education, healthcare, and community development programs while creating jobs that prioritize diversity.

Women now represent 18% of ReNew's workforce and 19% of new hires, including 15% of critical STEM roles in an industry traditionally dominated by men. The company also achieved zero employee fatalities and cut its injury rate by 52%.

The business helped its commercial and industrial customers avoid 3.11 million tons of carbon emissions through 2.23 gigawatts of dedicated clean energy capacity. Meanwhile, ReNew's manufacturing footprint expanded to 6.4 gigawatts of solar module production and 2.5 gigawatts of solar cell capacity, strengthening India's energy independence.

Co-founder Vaishali Nigam Sinha emphasized that the company has evolved beyond just generating renewable power. ReNew now tackles entire value chains, from responsible AI policies to recycling 621 metric tons of critical equipment parts to extend asset lifespans.

The company saved over 617 million liters of water while working toward becoming water-positive by 2030, and it's on track to source 100% renewable electricity by the same year.
