Rescue Teams Free Two Horses Trapped in Deep Mud

Two horses trapped in thick mud got a second chance thanks to rescue teams who refused to give up on them.

The animals became stuck Wednesday at the Dexter-Mary Farms Wildlife Management Area in Florida. Their situation looked dire, but help was already on the way.

Flagler County Fire Rescue's Technical Rescue Team joined forces with Volusia County's team to tackle the challenging rescue. Captain Karl Froling, firefighter paramedics Zachary Suarez and Joseph Crane, and Battalion Chief Brady Barry brought specialized equipment designed specifically for saving large animals.

The teams worked carefully to free both horses from the mud that had trapped them. After getting them out, rescuers evaluated the animals to make sure they were healthy.

Chief Tucker explained why this training matters so much. "It's not far-fetched to think that we will have to perform rescues like this," he said. When animals need help, these teams are ready.
