Retired Police Dogs Get Free Pain Relief in Florida
Heroic K9s who spent years protecting Pasco County are now receiving cutting-edge therapy to ease their arthritis and joint pain, completely free of charge. A local nonprofit partnered with a veteran-owned business to ensure these four-legged heroes enjoy comfortable, active retirements.
After years of chasing suspects and protecting communities, retired police dogs in New Port Richey are finally getting the care they deserve.
The Pasco Retired K-9 Foundation teamed up with Cryo-Eeze, a local cryotherapy business, to provide free high-tech treatments for former working dogs suffering from chronic pain. These dogs often develop arthritis, hip dysplasia, and joint problems after their service years.
German Shepherds, the most common police dog breed, are especially vulnerable to hip issues. A single veterinary visit can cost handlers up to $10,000, creating an impossible burden for families who've already sacrificed so much.
Now these retired heroes receive red light therapy and pulsed electromagnetic field therapy at no cost. The treatments are funded jointly by the foundation and Cryoeeze22, the business's nonprofit arm.
"We're here to give people a better quality of life and animals a better quality of life," said Ryder Gaston, Cryo-Eeze owner and Army veteran. His commitment to service didn't end when he left the military.

The results speak for themselves. Jagger, a 10-year-old retired K9, is running around pain-free again after receiving treatments. His handler reports the hip pain that once slowed him down has disappeared.
Why This Inspires
These dogs spent their careers protecting strangers without hesitation. They tracked missing children, sniffed out dangers, and stood between officers and threats. When their working days ended, many faced painful retirements their handlers couldn't afford to treat.
This partnership proves communities remember and honor service in all its forms. A veteran-owned business and dedicated volunteers joined forces to ensure no hero suffers in silence, whether they walk on two legs or four.
The foundation hosts its 9th Annual Retired K-9 Classic Golf Tournament on September 26 at Seven Springs Golf & Country Club. Supporters can also attend the 4th Annual Cryoeeze22 Gala on October 17 at Kontos Hall in New Port Richey.
Every dog who protected us deserves to chase tennis balls without pain in their golden years.
