Ripley Vikings Go Undefeated for W.Va. Wrestling Title

A small West Virginia high school just proved that heart and hard work still matter most in sports.

The Ripley Vikings wrestling team captured the West Virginia Division II State Dual Championship on Friday at the Lewisburg Fairgrounds, finishing with a perfect 3-0 record. The Vikings defeated Oak Glenn in their opening match before taking down Keyser in the semifinals.

In the championship bout, Ripley faced Herbert Hoover and secured a 42-30 victory to claim the state title. The win marks a major achievement for the school and its wrestling program.

The tournament also showcased strong performances from other local teams. The Williamstown Yellowjackets finished third with a 2-1 record, opening strong with a 44-31 win over Point Pleasant.

Although Williamstown fell to Herbert Hoover 42-35 in the semifinals, they bounced back in the third-place match. The Yellowjackets defeated Keyser 48-29 to secure their spot on the podium.
