Rob Gronkowski got a voicemail Tuesday night that brought him to tears: Patriots owner Robert Kraft calling to share that Gronk had been voted into the team's Hall of Fame as its 38th member.

Speaking from a pontoon boat in Florida on Wednesday, the 36-year-old called it an "absolute honor" to join Patriots legends like Tom Brady, Julian Edelman, and Tedy Bruschi. "To be in the same category as them, it is just an absolute honor," he said.

The numbers tell one side of Gronkowski's story. During nine seasons in New England, he caught 521 passes for 7,861 yards and 79 touchdowns in regular season play. He added three Super Bowl rings with the Patriots and earned five Pro Bowl selections.

But Gronk wants his legacy to mean something bigger than statistics. "I want to be viewed as a football player, the definition of a football player," he explained. "Somebody that puts their body on the line at any given time and makes the big plays in crucial moments."

He emphasized that being a great player meant being a great teammate first. "In order to get those opportunities, you have to be a good football player and a good teammate," Gronkowski said. "That's what it's all about."
