San Pedro High Celebrates 50 Years with Record 153 Graduates

San Pedro High School in Belize celebrated two major milestones at once: its 50th graduation ceremony and its largest graduating class in history.

On June 6th, 153 students walked across the stage at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium, more than ever before in the school's five decades of service. What makes this class even more remarkable is that 101 of those graduates earned honor roll status, proving that growth and excellence can go hand in hand.

The ceremony honored the tradition that has served generations of island students. Graduates presented roses to their parents and guardians, a touching moment that recognized the support behind each diploma. Valedictorian Aysha Acosta and Salutatorian Ailee Luna addressed their classmates, representing a class that Principal Maria Flota described as proof that "discipline meets determination."

The school isn't just celebrating its past but investing in its future. Principal Flota announced the launch of a new tourism program developed with the Belize Tourism Board, preparing students for opportunities in their island community's biggest industry. The school continues expanding its digital curriculum to help students compete globally while staying rooted in local opportunity.

For 50 years, San Pedro High School has been the educational anchor for Ambergris Caye, turning island kids into doctors, teachers, business owners, and community leaders.
