Santa Maria Shelter Exceeds Goals, Helps 300 Find Homes

A homeless shelter in Santa Maria, California is proving that compassionate programs can deliver results beyond anyone's expectations.

Good Samaritan Shelter's DignityMoves Hope Village set out to help 200 people experiencing homelessness within its first two years. Instead, the program has served nearly 300 individuals and keeps about 100 people housed every single day.

The real measure of success goes even deeper. Seventy-five percent of Hope Village's graduates successfully remain in permanent housing long term, showing that temporary shelter combined with the right support can break the cycle of homelessness.

Today, the shelter celebrates its wins with rising country music artist Steven Cade, who's performing a free concert at 3:00pm as part of his international Giving Guitars Tour. Cade will donate one of his guitars to Hope Village after the show.

The Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce is joining the celebration too, presenting Good Samaritan with a special honor immediately following the performance. The recognition highlights how the shelter has become a model for effective homeless services in the region.

Cade's tour partners with nonprofits Gibson Gives and the Guitar Center Music Foundation to raise funds and awareness for homelessness across multiple cities. His stops have helped boost local resources wherever he performs.
