Sarawak Governor Calls for Unity During Wesak Celebration

A governor on pilgrimage thousands of miles from home found the perfect moment to celebrate what makes his region special.

Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, currently performing the haj in the Holy Land with his wife, sent Wesak Day greetings to Buddhist communities across Sarawak and Malaysia. His message carried extra weight coming from a Muslim leader honoring a Buddhist celebration while on his own sacred journey.

The Governor reminded Sarawakians that the Buddhist values celebrated during Wesak, particularly peace, compassion and tolerance, mirror the principles that have made their multi-racial, multi-religious state a model of harmony.
