Saudi Arabia Funds $30M Housing for 2,600 in Djibouti

Families living in poverty in Djibouti just got a life-changing upgrade: 520 brand-new homes with everything from schools to clean water systems.

The Saudi Fund for Development recently inaugurated the $30 million social housing project in the East African nation, with Djibouti's President Ismail Omar Guelleh joining Deputy CEO Faisal Al-Qahtani at the ceremony. The project targets low-income citizens who previously lacked access to safe, adequate housing.

The housing complex goes far beyond just roofs over heads. Each community will have health clinics, recreational spaces, and educational facilities built right in. Engineers are also upgrading roads, electricity networks, and water systems to serve the new neighborhoods.
