The kingdom just inked deals worth $1.16 billion for four battery energy storage facilities with a combined capacity of 2,000 megawatts. The Saudi Power Procurement Company signed agreements for projects spread across three regions: Makkah, Hail, and Qassim. Three 500-megawatt facilities went to a consortium including Saudi Energy Company, Acwa, and Al Sharif Contracting. French energy giant Engie partnered with Haji Abdullah Alireza & Company to develop the fourth site in Qassim.
