Saudi Platform Collects $1.2B in Charity Donations in 2024

A digital charity platform in Saudi Arabia just proved that technology can transform generosity into real change for millions of families.

The Ehsan platform collected more than $1.2 billion through 135 million donations in 2024, officials announced Monday. That breaks down to an average of $3.3 million donated every single day by people across the Kingdom wanting to help their neighbors.

The numbers tell a story of explosive growth. When Ehsan launched its first campaign in 2021, it averaged about $750,000 in daily donations. Three years later, that number has jumped more than four times higher.

Abdullah Alghamdi, president of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, said the platform was designed around three simple ideas: reliability, transparency, and ease of use. A donation takes less than five seconds to complete from start to finish.

The technology behind the scenes works hard to protect donors and recipients alike. Advanced data analytics and artificial intelligence verify that help reaches eligible families and prevent anyone from receiving duplicate support. The system connects donors directly to results, letting them see exactly how their money makes a difference.

Over five years, more than 330 million donations totaling $3.7 billion have flowed through Ehsan. The platform operates under strict oversight from 13 supervisory entities and five subcommittees ensuring every dollar goes where it should.

The Ripple Effect

The impact reaches far beyond simple cash assistance. Housing Minister Majed Al-Hogail revealed that more than 313 nonprofit organizations now work within the system, supported by 345,000 volunteers partnering with public and private groups.

Housing initiatives alone have supported over 106,000 families eligible for assistance. Even more remarkably, the programs prevented more than 200,000 households from losing their homes. A rent support program is currently helping about 6,600 families stay housed this year.

The Jood Eskan housing platform started by helping 100 families secure affordable housing. Today it serves more than 50,000 families across Saudi Arabia. Since 2019, over 4.5 million donors have contributed more than $1.3 billion specifically to housing initiatives.

Digital transformation has accelerated help when people need it most. By linking a debt defaulters support platform to the Ministry of Justice, officials cut processing times from a month down to just 19 days. An electronic signature service reduced property ownership procedures from 14 days to only two.

The Ehsan Waqf Fund, designed to ensure long-term sustainability of charitable work, has already collected $590 million toward its $1.3 billion target. This endowment approach means the platform's impact will continue growing for generations.

In 2024 alone, the integrated system processed more than 150,000 digital operations and studied the needs of over 400,000 families by connecting national databases. The sixth National Campaign for Charitable Work launches March 3, building on five years of proven results.
