Scottish Care Home Adds Activities After Fundraiser Win

Residents at Parkhouse Manor Care Home in Barrhead, Scotland now have more reasons to smile each month, thanks to a community that refused to let them be forgotten.

The care home's recent fundraiser pulled in enough donations to add at least two extra activities every month for residents living with dementia at different stages. Local businesses donated raffle prizes, families gave encouragement and cash, and volunteers showed up to help make the event a success.

The money will fund experiences designed to bring "joy, purpose and connection" to daily life at the home. That means more live music afternoons, animal therapy visits, group outings, and reminiscence sessions where residents can share stories and laughter with others.

A wellbeing practitioner at the home explained why these additions matter so much. "These moments may seem small, but they can make an enormous difference to someone's day," they said. "To someone living in a care home, an afternoon of live music or simply sharing laughter with others can become the highlight of their month."

The fundraiser shows what happens when a community decides older adults deserve to feel valued. Every raffle ticket purchase and every donated prize sent a message to residents that they still matter.
