Sharjah Charity's $700K Campaign Aids 18,000 Families

Sharjah Charity International is putting $700,000 (Dh2.6 million) toward helping 18,000 families during the first ten days of Dhu Al Hijjah, one of the most sacred periods in the Islamic calendar. The comprehensive campaign includes everything from freeing inmates jailed over financial struggles to funding life-saving heart procedures.

The charity's Executive Director, Abdullah Sultan Bin Khadim, says the goal is simple: ease suffering and spread happiness. That means covering Hajj pilgrimages for around 20 Emirati citizens who otherwise couldn't afford the once-in-a-lifetime journey.

On the Day of Arafah, volunteers will distribute 15,000 iftar meals to people breaking their fast at sunset. The charity is also funding treatment for three patients and paying for 50 cardiac catheterization procedures that could save or dramatically improve lives.

Financial hardship won't keep inmates behind bars if the campaign can help it. Part of the funds will go toward releasing people jailed in debt-related cases, giving them a fresh start.

The campaign reaches beyond the UAE too. In Kyrgyzstan, the charity plans to build a mosque in a village and install a water supply network to improve residents' quality of life.

Back home, 700 dialysis sessions will be provided through the Sharjah Dialysis Centre. For patients requiring regular treatment, this kind of support can be the difference between stability and crisis.

The Ripple Effect

What makes this campaign powerful is how many lives it touches at once. A single donation channel feeds into multiple streams of support: medical care, spiritual fulfillment, basic necessities, freedom, and community infrastructure.

The charity has made giving easy through a smart app available on Android and iOS, plus SMS donations, digital wallets, credit cards, bank transfers, and donation kiosks in shopping malls. During these blessed days, community participation multiplies the impact exponentially.
