Six MRI Machines Headed to District Hospitals in India

Patients in six Indian districts will soon receive life-saving diagnostic care closer to home, thanks to new MRI machines coming to their local hospitals.

The state government has approved funding for six MRI units to be installed in district hospitals across Karnataka. The machines will serve patients in Davanagere, Mysuru, Dharwad, Bagalkote, and two locations in Bengaluru.

The initiative falls under the National Free Diagnostic Services Programme, which aims to make advanced medical imaging accessible to everyone regardless of their ability to pay. Until now, many patients in these districts had to travel long distances to access MRI technology or pay out of pocket at private facilities.

MRI machines are essential diagnostic tools that help doctors detect everything from brain injuries to cancers to heart problems. Without easy access to this technology, serious conditions can go undetected until they become more difficult and expensive to treat.
