Spanish Police Free 15 Women From Trafficking Ring

When one woman found the courage to escape her captors and alert police, she set in motion a rescue that would free 14 others from a nightmare. Spanish authorities dismantled a human trafficking network in Palma de Mallorca, saving 15 Chinese women forced into prostitution under what police described as "conditions of slavery."

The victims were lured to Spain with promises of legitimate work. Recruiters offered positions as therapeutic massage therapists with salaries around 2,000 euros monthly, or as cooks and caregivers. Instead, women arriving from China and other parts of Spain found themselves trapped in forced prostitution.

Police arrested 14 people connected to the criminal network: 12 in the Balearic Islands and two in Barcelona. Thirteen of those arrested are Chinese nationals, while one is Spanish. Seven have been remanded into custody as the investigation continues.

The operation revealed the network profited not only from sexual exploitation but also from selling stimulants and drugs to clients. Victims were controlled around the clock and required to be "available at all times," according to the national police statement.
