Spider-Man Cosplayer Saves Wheelchair User in Arkansas

Sometimes heroes show up exactly when you need them, even if they're wearing a costume.

In Little Rock, Arkansas, a man in a wheelchair found himself in a dangerous situation. He was trying to cross six lanes of traffic but wasn't moving fast enough to beat the red light.

That's when Christopher Hellenthal saw what was happening. He was stopped at the intersection in his Jeep, dressed as Spider-Man after attending a superhero-themed event.

Without hesitation, Hellenthal jumped out of his vehicle and ran into the intersection. "I got you," he told the man as he grabbed the wheelchair and gave him a running push across the remaining lanes.

The man made it safely to the other side just before the light turned green and traffic started moving again. Hellenthal then had to sprint back to his Jeep because the light changed "pretty fast."

Street security cameras captured the entire rescue. A local police department shared the footage on social media, thanking Hellenthal for his quick thinking and kindness.

Hellenthal told The Associated Press he didn't think twice about helping. "I had a bunch of adrenaline pumping through me," he said. "I was just kind of thinking, 'I'm wearing this suit; it's gonna be pretty funny.'"

The video went viral online, earning tens of thousands of likes and shares. While commenters praised Hellenthal's heroism, some joked that he missed a perfect opportunity to strike a Spider-Man pose after the rescue.

But Hellenthal wasn't thinking about going viral or looking cool. He saw someone who needed help and acted immediately, which is what real heroes do whether they're wearing capes or not.

Sometimes being a hero is as simple as paying attention to the people around you and stepping up when it matters most.
