Store Manager Saves Woman Freezing Outside Texas Shop

Mirza Hussain was working his usual Saturday morning shift at Evan's Foodmart in Fort Worth when a man burst through the door with terrifying news. "Hey man, she's across the street frozen," the customer said.

Hussain, known affectionately as Faris to his regulars, had worked at the store for five years. He recognized the woman immediately as Bobby, one of his customers experiencing homelessness who had nowhere to go during the winter storm.

"My hands were shivering when I went outside to get her," Hussain told NBC 5. "That just instantly got to me, and I was like, 'What is she going through?'"

Security cameras captured the moment Hussain carried Bobby from the freezing street into the warmth of the store. He immediately called Fort Worth Police, and medics arrived shortly after to transport her to the hospital.

Bobby's gratitude was instant. "She was already screaming like, 'Oh, you saved my life!'" Hussain recalled.

He sees them as neighbors, not strangers. In Southwest Fort Worth near his small convenience store, Hussain estimates 10 to 15 people experiencing homelessness live on the streets around his block.

As snow and ice continue coating the roads and sidewalks, Hussain thinks about the others still outside. His message is simple but profound: "Everybody that you see on the streets has a backstory and as to why they ended up on the streets. Just be kind to everybody."
