Strangers Tow Burning Truck to Save Trapped Driver in Texas

Several strangers became heroes on Interstate 10 near Seguin, Texas, when they rushed to save a driver trapped in a burning pickup truck wedged beneath a tractor-trailer.

The crash happened around noon on Wednesday when the pickup slammed into the back of the semi near FM 725. The impact wedged the truck's hood underneath the trailer, and within moments, flames erupted with the driver still trapped inside.

That's when passing motorists sprang into action. They grabbed a fire extinguisher and worked to knock down the flames while trying to free the driver. When the truck's door wouldn't budge, they came up with a bold plan.

The Good Samaritans hooked a tow cable from another pickup to the crashed vehicle and pulled it away from the semi-trailer. Police credited this quick thinking with preventing the fire from spreading and likely saving the driver's life.

First responders arrived shortly after and airlifted at least one person to an area hospital. By the time police wanted to thank the rescuers, they had already left the scene without giving their names.
