Student Wins Scholarship for Broadcasting Good News Stories
Anna Ince, a Lindenwood University sophomore, just won a competitive scholarship from the Missouri Broadcasters Association for her passion for highlighting positivity through radio. She's using her platform to give voices to people who don't always get heard.
A college student who fell in love with radio during a high school FFA visit is now being recognized for her commitment to sharing uplifting stories with the world.
Anna Ince, a second-year communications major at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri, recently earned a scholarship from the Missouri Broadcasters Association. The award recognizes students who show both hands-on experience and genuine passion for the broadcasting field.
Ince's journey started in an unexpected place. During her junior year at Louisiana High School in Missouri, she visited a local radio station to talk about FFA Week. The moment she stepped off the air, something clicked.
"I left feeling so good," Ince said. "I realized that day at the radio station that this is what I wanted to do."
She didn't wait around for opportunities to find her. Ince contacted the station immediately and asked about an internship. She spent the next year and a half as their high school correspondent, writing articles and broadcasting sporting events.

Now at Lindenwood, she's the president of the university's Broadcast Educators Association chapter and station director for The Tower, the student-run radio station. But her goals go beyond building a resume.
"I've always wanted to use broadcasting to highlight positivity and give a voice to people who don't always have a platform," Ince said. "I love soft news stories that focus on the good in the world."
Why This Inspires
Ince sees her future career as more than just a job. She calls it a form of ministry, using her love of conversation and storytelling to shine a light on people doing good things in their communities.
"I just feel a good sense of satisfaction after I do a radio show, or I get to talk to someone and make them highlighted for their good deeds," she said.
The scholarship comes with a trip to the Missouri Broadcasters Association conference at Lake of the Ozarks in June. Ince plans to use the opportunity to network with professionals and learn how they broke into what she acknowledges is a tough industry.
Her advice to herself and others trying to make it? Put yourself out there, talk to people, and stay passionate about the stories that matter.
"I'm excited to see the opportunities and experiences that can come from this," Ince said.
