Swedish cleantech companies met with Philippine officials on September 4 to discuss bringing cutting-edge technologies to the island nation's extensive coastline and busy waterways. The Indo-Pacific Energy Forum brought together three innovators with solutions perfectly suited to a country surrounded by water.

Candela is bringing electric hydrofoil vessels to Philippine waters. These boats use underwater wings to lift the hull above the surface, slashing energy use while gliding smoothly over waves. The company has already expanded across the Asia-Pacific region, targeting cities where millions rely on waterborne transport daily.

NoviOcean is developing floating platforms that do triple duty. They capture energy from waves, wind, and sunlight all at once. The company has specifically studied the Philippines, where 22,000 miles of coastline and millions of coastal residents create enormous potential for marine renewable energy that never stops flowing.

Waltero takes a different approach with battery-powered sensors that modernize old utility meters. Their technology helps cities monitor water, gas, heating, and electricity networks without expensive infrastructure overhauls. Ambassador Patrick Chuasoto and embassy staff met with all three companies to explore how their technologies could accelerate the Philippines' transition to sustainable energy and infrastructure.
