Tameside Fashion Show Raises £600 for Young Carers

When young carers stepped onto the runway at Stanley Square Conservative Club last Sunday, they weren't just modeling clothes. They were showing their community exactly why they deserve celebration and support.

The Friends of Tameside Young Carers raised £600 through their fashion fundraiser, money that will fund day trips and activities for young people who spend their days caring for sick or disabled family members. Sixty young carers attended last summer's outing to Blackpool Pleasure Beach, a £2,400 adventure that gave them rare moments to just be kids.

Organizer Joyce Howarth pulled together local support to make the event shine. Marie Travis from Poppet's Place boutique donated the clothing, while Stanley Square Conservative Club offered their venue free of charge.

The afternoon buzzed with raffles, applause, and gratitude. Many of the models walking the runway were young carers themselves, stepping into the spotlight after spending so much time in the shadows caring for others.

Angie Wild earned special recognition for her tireless work raising awareness about young carers. Her efforts helped fill seats and secure donations that will directly improve these young people's lives.
