Tamil Nadu Opens 2 Textile Parks, Signs 53 Global Deals

Tamil Nadu took a big step forward for local entrepreneurs and textile workers this week, opening two new mini-textile parks designed to fuel economic growth in the Karur district.

The parks, located in Kodangipatti and Uppidamangalam, are part of an ambitious state initiative to strengthen India's textile heartland. Tamil Nadu has now approved 19 mini-textile parks across the state, with four already operating in Karur alone.

The program offers real financial support to entrepreneurs trying to build modern facilities. Business owners can receive up to 50% of their project costs, capped at 25 million rupees (about $300,000 USD), to develop cutting-edge infrastructure in industrial clusters.

Minister M. Vijay Balaji, who oversees textiles and handlooms, inaugurated both facilities on Friday. The timing couldn't be better for local manufacturers looking to compete globally.

At the same event, small and medium businesses got another boost. A two-day Reverse Buyer-Seller meet brought together 186 local companies with 25 international buyers, creating connections that matter for real people's livelihoods.

The results were impressive. Companies signed 53 memorandums of understanding worth 120 million rupees (roughly $1.4 million USD) in new business deals.
