Professor Gileard Masenga, the hospital's director, said patients received everything from health screenings to immediate surgical procedures. The camp addressed conditions affecting the brain, nerves, bones, urinary system, and spine.
One major breakthrough was the introduction of Rezum, a modern prostate treatment new to Tanzania. The procedure uses steam to reduce enlarged prostate tissue, relieving urination problems for men with benign prostatic hyperplasia. Previously, patients needing this treatment would have had to travel internationally.
Dr. Fyumagwa Hassan, whose Tanlink Tourism Medical Agency coordinated the camp, emphasized how the program supports government efforts to make specialized care available locally. His organization regularly brings together local and international specialists to serve Tanzanian patients, including vulnerable populations.
