Tanzania Hospital Wows Namibian Experts With Tumor Tech

When Namibian health officials walked through Kairuki Hospital in Dar es Salaam, they discovered healthcare innovations that could transform treatment back home.

The delegation, traveling with Namibia's President, came to see what Tanzania has achieved in medical technology and education. What they found exceeded expectations.

The star of the tour was a High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) machine that removes tumors without a single surgical cut. The technology treats cancers in the breast, liver, pancreas, uterus, and prostate, giving patients a less invasive path to healing.

Dr. Sia Kiwia, the hospital's Medical Officer in Charge, explained how the HIFU system works and which patients benefit most. The Namibian visitors watched demonstrations and learned about patient outcomes firsthand.

The delegation also explored the Kairuki Green IVF Centre, which opened in 2023 and has already helped bring more than 150 babies into the world. Some of those children are now in preschool, a touching testament to the program's success. The centre offers everything from virtual consultations to embryo preservation, making fertility treatment more accessible across Tanzania.

Beyond the medical technology, the visit highlighted something equally important: the people. Some doctors in the Namibian delegation had actually trained at Kairuki University, creating a full-circle moment of pride and connection.

Dr. Lyasimana Ndaning'ina from Namibia's Ministry of Health said his team gained valuable insights they can bring home. The Namibian visitors expressed strong interest in deepening cooperation with Tanzania through professional training programs and knowledge exchanges.
