Team Penske Wins Third Straight Rolex 24 at Daytona

At 88 years old, Roger Penske is still showing the world how champions finish strong.

His Porsche Penske Motorsports team claimed their third straight victory at the Rolex 24 at Daytona this past weekend, joining just two other teams in the 64-year history of America's most prestigious endurance race to achieve this feat. The win came in front of the largest crowd in Rolex 24 history at Daytona International Speedway.

Brazilian driver Felipe Nasr delivered what Penske called "one of the best drives I've ever seen" during the final hour of the race. Nasr held off a charging Cadillac driven by Jack Aitken, closing the door on multiple passing attempts in the final 25 minutes to secure victory by just over one minute.

What makes this three-peat even more remarkable is that Penske achieved it with three different driver lineups over three years. Only Nasr appeared on all three winning teams, proving his reliability when the pressure peaks.

The race featured an impressive international showcase with 60 cars from 12 automakers and 228 drivers representing 32 countries. Mother Nature threw a curveball when fog rolled in shortly before 1 a.m., causing a record-breaking caution period lasting over six and a half hours.

The Ripple Effect

This victory marks the 46th IMSA win for Penske and the 21st Rolex 24 victory for Porsche, cementing legacies that inspire the next generation of racing talent. Young drivers like NASCAR rising star Connor Zilisch, who helped drive the second-place Cadillac, gained invaluable experience competing against the best in the world.

The race also continued a remarkable streak for Brazilian motorsports, marking six consecutive years that a Brazilian driver has been part of the winning team at Daytona. Four-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves was on winning teams from 2021 to 2023, passing the torch to his countryman Nasr.

Penske's dedication to excellence remains unwavering even after six decades in racing. He traditionally stays awake for the entire 24 hours on the pit stand, though even he took a break during the extended fog delay this year.

For Nasr and his teammates Julien Andlauer and Laurin Heinrich, the victory represents the culmination of preparation, teamwork, and determination across an entire day and night of racing. The unofficial start of the 2026 motorsports season couldn't have begun on a brighter note for Team Penske.
