Team USA Wins 5th Straight Women's Lacrosse Gold in Tokyo

The United States women's lacrosse team made history Sunday night, becoming the first squad ever to win five consecutive world championships with a commanding 16-4 victory over Canada at Prince Chichibu Memorial Stadium in Tokyo.

The American dominance was absolute. Team USA won every game in the tournament by 12 or more goals, averaging 20 goals per game while holding opponents to fewer than five.

The victory extends an incredible winning streak to 36 games, dating back to 2009. The United States has now won 10 of the 12 women's world championships contested since 1982, cementing its place as the sport's most storied program.

Midfielder Ally Kennedy earned tournament MVP honors for her exceptional all-around performance, notching 10 goals, six assists, and four ground balls across the competition. Kennedy previously won MVP at the 2024 World Lacrosse Women's Box Championship, proving her elite status in multiple formats.

Goalkeeper Shea Dolce was named player of the match in the final, making eight saves on 12 shots to keep Canada at bay. Five American players earned World Team recognition: Kennedy, Chloe Humphrey, Marie McCool, Sydney Scales, and Dolce.

The American attack was a showcase of depth. Twelve different players recorded points in the final alone, with Sam Apuzzo leading the way with three goals and two assists. Over the entire tournament, ten different players registered at least 10 points.

Canada earned its fourth consecutive silver medal, with Aurora Cordingley, Erica Evans, and Brooklyn Walker-Welch receiving World Team honors. Kassidy Morris and Cordingley each tallied 22 points to lead Canada's attack throughout the week.
