Teen Wins Gold in Pistol Shooting at Junior Olympics

Concord-Carlisle High School senior Ammar Bagasra stood on the gold medal podium in Colorado Springs this week, capping off an impressive performance at the Junior Olympics that showcased years of dedicated training.

Bagasra claimed first place in the under-18 25-meter sport pistol event during the weeklong competition that wrapped up on Patriots Day. His victory in the youth category came alongside a fourth-place finish overall in sport pistol, competing against shooters of all ages at the championships.

The success didn't stop with one medal. Bagasra also earned bronze in the under-18 10-meter air pistol event and finished seventh overall in that discipline, missing the final podium by just two points.

"Colorado has been pretty good," Bagasra told The Concord Bridge in an email, his understatement reflecting the humble attitude of a focused athlete.
