Tesla Cybertrucks to Guard NASA's September Space Launch

"Cybertrucks will get them out of that blast danger area quickly in a very, very good fashion, so looking forward to that improvement," said Richard Jones, deputy director of NASA's commercial crew office. The switch frees up those military vehicles for other uses while still meeting all safety requirements.

SpaceX led the charge on this change, proposing the Cybertrucks as an alternative that could handle the unique demands of launch site emergencies. NASA and SpaceX thoroughly tested the vehicles to ensure they could perform in every possible emergency scenario before giving them the green light.
