Texas Firefighter Saves 3 Kids from Capsized Boat

When Jason Horne saw a boat capsize on Alvarado Lake this July 4th, he knew seconds mattered. Three children were trapped underneath the hull, and the off-duty Texas firefighter immediately sprang into action.

The boat was carrying nine people when it flipped on the lake, located about 26 miles south of Fort Worth. As panicked boaters scrambled to help, Horne dove into the water without thinking twice.

He swam under the capsized hull again and again, fighting against time and fear. Horne pulled out two children from beneath the boat, their bodies limp and unresponsive.

The firefighter immediately began CPR on both kids, refusing to stop until they gasped for air. Other boaters managed to free the third child, who also needed emergency revival efforts.

Horne performed CPR on the third child as well, breathing life back into each young victim. His quick thinking and training turned a Fourth of July tragedy into a story of survival.

All three children are now recovering at a local hospital. Their families will celebrate many more Independence Days thanks to one man's courage and skill.
