Thailand Hospitals Prepare for Nipah, Zero Cases Found

The Department of Medical Services confirmed that Rajavithi Hospital and other major facilities across Thailand are fully prepared to handle any suspected Nipah virus cases. Dr. Nattapong Wongwiwat announced that state hospitals including Nopparat Rajathanee and Lerdsin have strengthened their readiness with adequate staffing, medical supplies, isolation wards, and treatment facilities.

Rajavithi Hospital has established dedicated screening points and isolation facilities capable of treating patients from moderate to severe symptoms. The preparation comes as a proactive measure since no cases have been detected in Thailand.

At three international airports, Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, and Phuket, health officials screened at least 1,700 travelers with zero infections detected. The screening program demonstrates Thailand's commitment to early detection without disrupting travel or tourism.

In Pattaya, officials took swift action after residents expressed concerns about fruit bat colonies. Health and veterinary teams collected samples from the bats for testing at specialized facilities, with results pending.
