Three Men Save Boy From Sinking Taxi in Russia

When a taxi skidded into a frigid canal in Makhachkala, Russia, three men didn't hesitate to risk everything to save a child trapped inside.

The car slid off the road and into the October Revolution Canal, where it began floating downstream in the rushing water. Video captured the heart-stopping moment when three strangers balanced on a narrow metal pipe stretched across the canal, leaning down to reach the partially submerged vehicle.

With freezing temperatures and dangerous currents below, the men worked together to pull the young boy through an open window. One rescuer even stripped down to his underwear, refusing to let the cold stop him from helping.

The child was carefully lifted up and passed from one rescuer to the next until he reached safety on the canal bank. Witnesses said the boy's mother and taxi driver were also rescued shortly after when other bystanders entered the water with a rope.

Taxi driver Nurislam Ramazanov explained he lost control while trying to avoid a parked car blocking the road. Traveling about 30 mph, the vehicle skidded and became uncontrollable when neither the brakes nor gas pedal responded.

Despite the terrifying situation, Ramazanov stayed calm and focused on reassuring the frightened mother. "The child went out the window first," he said. "The guys caught him. The child didn't even get wet. The baby was dry."
