Toledo Volunteers Gear Up to Help Teachers Get Ready

Teachers across Toledo will get a helping hand this August, thanks to a volunteer campaign designed to make their first day back easier and brighter.

United Way of Greater Toledo's "Helping Our Heroes" initiative invites community members to Birmingham Elementary, Escuela SMART Academy, and Robinson Elementary on August 13th. Starting at 9 a.m., volunteers will help teachers set up their classrooms and prepare for the new school year.

The program welcomes everyone, whether you're flying solo or bringing your whole crew. Projects are designed to accommodate both individual volunteers and organized groups looking to make a difference together.

Beyond volunteer hours, the United Way is also collecting classroom essentials that teachers often purchase out of pocket. Hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, and tissues top the wish list, giving donors a simple way to support local educators.
