Students in California's Imperial Valley will ride to school knowing their buses run on sunshine instead of diesel, thanks to two districts that just switched on their new solar energy systems.

Meadows Union School District and Westmorland Unified School District celebrated their "Flip the Switch" events in September, marking the completion of solar installations that transform both their energy bills and their environmental impact. Three years of collaboration with Imperial Irrigation District, the Air Pollution Control District, and environmental partners led to grants that made the upgrades possible.
