Two NJ Youth Golf Teams Advance to National Championship

Eight young golfers from Fiddler's Elbow Country Club and eight from Haworth Country Club just earned something most athletes only dream about: a trip to national championships.

The teams dominated the PGA Jr. League Regional tournament at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia, this weekend. They beat competitors from across three states to claim their spots at the national level.

The Fiddler's Elbow 13u All-Stars, led by Coach Jeremy B. Eccles, secured their victory when they reached seven points against the Inspiration All-Stars. Their roster features eight talented players ages 13 and under from communities across New Jersey, including Basking Ridge, Fort Lee, and Princeton.

The championship win sends them to PGA Frisco's Fields Ranch West in Texas this November. ESPN will broadcast the event live, giving these young athletes a chance to compete on national television.

The Haworth 17u All-Stars faced an even tighter contest. Their championship match against the 1757 Hydra All-Stars ended in a dramatic 6-6 tie, but Haworth advanced by winning the holes-won tiebreaker 11-10.

Coaches Mark Thornewell and Chip Ranco will lead their eight players to Twin Warriors Golf Club in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico, this October. This marks Haworth's first-ever trip to the 17u national championship.

The Ripple Effect

These victories represent more than trophies for New Jersey youth sports. PGA Jr. League creates opportunities for kids to build confidence, develop athletic skills, and form lasting friendships through team-based golf competition.
