US Offshore Wind Farm 95% Done, Powering 350,000 Homes
The Revolution Wind farm off Rhode Island is weeks from completion with 61 of 65 turbines installed and already feeding clean power to New England. Two massive offshore wind projects are racing toward the finish line, bringing renewable energy to nearly half a million American homes.
Clean energy is officially arriving on America's Atlantic coast, and the numbers prove it's not just talk anymore.
Revolution Wind, the offshore wind farm serving Rhode Island and Connecticut, hit 95 percent completion this month with just four turbines left to install. The project already started delivering electricity to the New England grid back in January and will reach full power later this year.
Once the final turbines spin up, Revolution Wind will generate 704 megawatts of renewable electricity. That's enough to power more than 350,000 homes without burning a single ounce of fossil fuel.
The 65 giant turbines, each capable of producing 11 megawatts, rise from the Atlantic waters in a sight that would have seemed impossible just a few years ago. Rhode Island will receive 400 megawatts while Connecticut gets 304 megawatts, marking a major step in both states' clean energy goals.
Danish energy company Ørsted owns the project alongside Skyborn Renewables. They began installing the first turbine back in 2024, and the rapid progress shows offshore wind construction is finally hitting its stride in American waters.

Meanwhile, just down the coast off New York, the Sunrise Wind project reached the halfway point. Construction crews have installed 20 turbines and 77 foundations for what will become an even larger 924 megawatt wind farm.
Sunrise Wind will feature 84 turbines connecting to New York's grid at Brookhaven in Suffolk County. The first turbines should start generating power later this year, with full operation expected by late 2027.
The Ripple Effect
These two projects represent more than clean electricity. They're creating thousands of construction jobs and proving that offshore wind can deliver on its promises at American scale.
The Revolution Wind turbines alone will prevent millions of tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere over their lifetime. Combined with Sunrise Wind and other projects now moving forward along the East Coast, offshore wind is transforming from a European success story into an American reality.
New England and New York are getting a new power source that won't run out, won't pollute local air, and won't contribute to climate change. The technology works, the turbines are spinning, and the clean power is flowing right now.
The revolution in American energy isn't coming someday—it's already turning in the Atlantic wind.
