USA Rugby Legend Jen Crawford Enters World Hall of Fame

One of the greatest rugby players in American history is finally getting her due on the world stage.

Jen Crawford, a trailblazing force in women's rugby, has been named to the World Rugby Hall of Fame Class of 2026. The former USA Women's Eagles star joins just six other inductees worldwide this year, bringing the Hall's total membership to 182 players since its creation in 2006.

Crawford's rugby résumé reads like a highlight reel. She helped Team USA win the inaugural Women's Rugby World Cup in 1991, defeating England 19-6 in the final. Over her 12-year international career from 1988 to 2000, she scored 24 tries in just 23 test matches, retiring as the Women's Eagles' all-time leading try-scorer.

Her impact went far beyond that historic first World Cup win. Crawford competed in three consecutive World Cup finals and captained the 1998 squad. She also led the Berkeley All Blues to nine straight national club championships while building women's rugby from the ground up across America.

The induction ceremony will take place on home soil this October 30 in New Jersey, right before a major match between the USA Eagles and England's Red Roses at the Sports Illustrated Stadium. Crawford will be honored alongside England's Sue Day, that nation's record try-scorer.

Why This Inspires

After her playing days ended, Crawford kept championing the sport she loved. She co-founded the Piedmont High School Girls' Rugby Club and served as a player representative on the USA Rugby Board. Her work helped create pathways for the next generation of American rugby players.
