Vietnam Farm Giant Cuts 8 Tons of Plastic with AI Innovation

A major food company in Vietnam just showed how technology can solve some of agriculture's biggest problems, from climate challenges to mountains of plastic waste.

C.P. Vietnam Corporation earned recognition as one of the Top 5 Most Innovative Enterprises in High-Tech Agriculture at the Vietnam Business Forum 2026 in Hanoi. The award honors companies using innovation to improve operations, quality control, and sustainable food production.

The company operates an integrated system covering everything from animal feed to farms to food processing. Across this entire chain, C.P. Vietnam applies what it calls "Sustainovation," blending cutting-edge technology with environmental protection.

The results speak for themselves. By redesigning packaging for fresh chicken products alone, the company now saves eight tons of plastic every year. Their new animal feed bags use 20 percent less plastic per bag.

Technology powers these changes. C.P. Vietnam runs Smart Farms that use climate-controlled housing, the Internet of Things, AI, and automation to monitor animal health and optimize living conditions. In factories, robots and AI handle precision tasks, boosting productivity while supporting workers.

The company integrated SAP systems that track everything from financial data to production quality to environmental performance in real time. Since 2020, Vietnam's National Office of Intellectual Property has granted C.P. Vietnam 18 intellectual property rights, including two invention patents and 16 utility solution patents.

"Innovation is one of the six core values of the C.P. Group and has long been central to C.P. Vietnam's growth strategy," said Vu Anh Tuan, senior vice president of Agro Feed Business at C.P. Vietnam. The company continues investing in research, digital transformation, and AI to support Vietnam's agricultural modernization.

C.P. Vietnam's innovation touches more than just its own operations. The company advances renewable energy adoption and circular economy practices throughout its supply chain. Farms now generate renewable biogas energy from livestock waste, turning a disposal problem into clean power.

Water reuse systems improve resource efficiency across facilities. Better traceability systems help ensure food safety from farm to table, giving families confidence in what they eat.

The company recently launched six new AI transformation projects designed to build a smarter, more sustainable food system for Vietnam.
