Vietnam's AgriS Opens Singapore Hub to Boost Ag Innovation

Vietnam's largest agricultural company is betting that the future of farming innovation runs through Singapore, and the implications could reshape how new food solutions reach hungry markets worldwide.

AgriS officially opened its Global Innovation Center in Singapore on September 16, 2026, creating a permanent bridge between agricultural research and real-world farms. The center brings together scientists, technology experts, investors, and farmers to fast-track promising agricultural innovations from laboratory concepts to actual crops in fields.

The company manages nearly 90,000 hectares of farmland across Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Australia, giving them a massive testing ground for new ideas. They already operate 11 AgTech Hubs and maintain roughly 9,000 hectares of research farms where experimental technologies can prove themselves under actual farming conditions before scaling up.

Chairwoman Dang Huynh Uc My explained the vision simply: "Innovation creates value when science moves beyond research into real-world application." Rather than keeping breakthroughs stuck in academic journals, the center aims to shorten the journey from promising concept to products farmers can actually use.

Vietnam's Ambassador to Singapore, Tran Phuoc Anh, highlighted what the move represents for developing economies. The decision to establish this hub reflects growing confidence and international ambition from Vietnam's private sector, he noted, showing how companies from emerging markets are becoming innovation leaders rather than just followers.

Singapore's strategic location makes it the ideal convergence point. The city-state connects AgriS's agricultural foundations throughout Southeast Asia with leading universities, research institutions, technology partners, and international investors all concentrated in one accessible hub.

The center focuses on four key missions: accelerating agricultural innovation, connecting research with industry and markets, driving supply chain integration, and supporting AgriS's regional and global expansion. Enterprise Singapore's John Lu welcomed the development, noting that AgriS can tap into Singapore's vibrant agri-food ecosystem to speed up commercialization of high-value solutions.
