Wellsville Girls Robotics Team Wins State, Heads to Worlds

A small town robotics team from Wellsville, New York just proved that hard work and determination can take you anywhere, even to the world stage.

The girls of Wellsville Robotics Team 14895 took home the New York State VEX V5 Championship title on Wednesday in Syracuse. Their victory came through winning the prestigious Design Award, which automatically secured them a spot at the VEX Robotics World Championships in St. Louis this spring.

The team's success didn't happen overnight. These students spent countless hours building, testing, and refining their robot while learning advanced engineering and programming skills.

Wellsville Central School sent four teams to the state competition, and three made it to the elimination rounds. Team 14895A fought their way to the quarterfinals before the all-girls championship team claimed the top honor.
